Practice Areas: International Trade and Trade Remedies
Ms. Sarmet has been working in the international trade field for more than 18 years, mainly focused on trade remedies related issues.
Gisela has a vast experience in all trade remedies investigations steps, like advising in data collection and questionnaire responses preparation, analyzing and performing dumping margin calculations, conducting injury analysis, leading on-the-spot verifications and drafting final briefs. Her expertise extends to related processes, such as administrative reviews, anti-circumvention reviews, scope evaluation and public interest.
Furthermore, she has significant experience in customs matters, just as origin verification, import licensing and tariff changes, mainly temporary or permanent changes on the Common External Tariff and “Ex-Tarifário” obtainment.
Prior to her experience in the private sector, she worked at the Department of Trade Remedies of Brazil (DECOM) of the Foreign Trade Secretariat (SECEX) as an analyst for five years, where she was responsible of conducting trade remedies investigations, and also participated in governmental previous consultations regarding investigations offered by the Member States of MERCOSUR. She has also attended negotiations related to Trade Remedies within ALCA.
Gisela lectured trade remedies and International Economy courses at PUC- RJ and UNESA-RJ.
